	THIRD DCA INDUCTION CEREMONY FOR ADMISSION OF APPLICANTS TO THE FLORIDA BAR On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., applicants for admission to the Florida Bar were sworn in as new Florida attorneys at the Third District Court of Appeal. 	THIRD DCA HOSTS FIU COLLEGE OF LAW LLM STUDENTS On October 4, 2022, the Third District Court of Appeal hosted a group of Master of Laws (LLM) students from Florida International University College of Law. The group of students, who are already licensed and practicing attorneys, come from culturally diverse backgrounds. They represent countries such as Colombia, Venezuela, Russia, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Ecuador, Haiti, Italy, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Turkey. The foreign attorneys attended an oral argument session with Judge Kevin Emas, Judge Edwin A. Scales, III, and Judge Eric Wm. Hendon. Following the oral argument, the judges held a question-and-answer session in the courtroom, and later attended a luncheon hosted by the Dean of FIU College of Law Antony Page, Associate Dean Manuel Gomez, and Professor Rodolfo Pittaluga.
	ORDER EXTENDING TIME LIMITS FOLLOWING HURRICANE IAN On Monday, October 3, 2022, the Florida Supreme Court issued an order extending time limits following the Third District Court of Appeal's closure due to Hurricane Ian. 	THIRD DCA JUDGES ATTEND HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH PANEL DISCUSSION AT THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF FLORIDA On Thursday, September 22, 2022, Chief Judge Ivan F. Fernandez, Judge Monica Gordo and Judge Alexander Bokor attended the Hispanic Heritage Month event at the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Courthouse. Chief Justice Carlos G. Muñiz and Chief Judge Fernandez participated in the panel. This year's program was titled "La Jefa y Los Jefes: A Conversation with Hispanic Chief Judges from Florida." A reception was held following the program.

	ORAL ARGUMENT SESSION HELD AT THE 16TH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT On July 29, 2022, the Court convened an official Oral Argument session at the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit in Key West, FL.  The judicial panels were presided by Chief Judge Ivan F. Fernandez, Judges Kevin Emas, Edwin A. Scales, III and Bronwyn C. Miller.
	THE HONORABLE BRONWYN C. MILLER RECEIVED THE MATTIE BELLE DAVIS AWARD Calling her a "great role model and mentor," the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers has honored Judge Bronwyn C. Miller with the Mattie Belle Davis Award.  This award is presented annually to a jurist who exemplifies the ideals of professional achievement, perseverance, and dedication that were demonstrated by the late Judge Davis. Judge Davis, who was first appointed to the bench in 1959, was a stateswoman of the bench and bar who blazed the trails that have since been followed by generations of women lawyers. Congratulations Judge Miller on this exceptional honor!

	ORAL ARGUMENTS SESSION HELD AT ST. THOMAS UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF LAW On April 6, 2022, the Court convened an official oral arguments session at St. Thomas University College of Law. The judicial panel was presided by Judge Kevin Emas, Judge Eric Wm. Hendon, and Judge Alexander S. Bokor. The judges hosted a question-and-answer panel with the students after the  session.
	STUDENTS FROM SOUTHWEST MIAMI SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL VISIT ORAL ARGUMENTS On March 8, 2022, students from Southwest Miami Senior High School, through the ABOTA Program, attended the Court's oral arguments session. Judges Thomas Logue, Edwin A. Scales III, and Monica Gordo hosted a question-and-answer panel with the students after the oral arguments session.
	THIRD DISTRICT COURT OF APPEAL MOURNS THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE MARIO P. GODERICH The Third District Court of Appeal mourns the loss of retired Third District Court of Appeal Judge Mario P. Goderich, who passed away peacefully at his home in Miami on February 10, 2022, at the age of 89.  More.
	STUDENTS FROM HIALEAH GARDENS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL VISIT ORAL ARGUMENTS On February 8, 2022, students from Hialeah Gardens Senior High School, through the ABOTA Program, attended the Court's oral arguments session. 	INVESTITURE OF JUDGE ALEXANDER S. BOKOR On Thursday, January 20, 2022, the Court held the Investiture of Judge Alexander S. Bokor as the 43rd member of the Third District Court of Appeal bench. The Honorable Steven D. Merryday administered The Oath of Office. The ceremony was followed by a reception in the Alan R. Schwartz Atrium, hosted by the Dade County Bar Association

	NOTICE TO PARTIES AND PRACTITIONERS: Effective January 1, 2021 at 12:03 a.m., the Florida Rules of Appellate Procedure have been modified to require, among other things, that computer-generated documents be filed in either Arial 14-point font or Bookman Old Style 14-point font.  In addition, the page limits for computer-generated briefs and petitions were converted to word counts.  The changes also require that the certificate of compliance at the end of a document, which is subject to a word count, certify that the document is in conformity with all font and word count requirements.  To ensure compliance with the new requirements, all filers are encouraged to review the Supreme Court of Florida's opinion at: https://www.floridasupremecourt.org/content/download/692679/opinion/sc20-597.pdf.
